Television commercials

Regional New South Wales is known for its natural beauty, engaging local communities and rich pastoral and rural heritage.  For those seeking a holiday, the close proximity of regional NSW and the diverse experiences it offers differentiate the NSW holiday experience from those in other states.  A holiday in NSW is one where visitors can genuinely connect with community, with nature, with the past and with themselves.

The filming and photography for the series of regional TV commercials involved travelling to shoot footage to some of the most beautiful and more remote destinations in New South Wales.

Filming the commercial

The film shoot took place over 20 days in a wide variety of regional NSW locations.  The crew covered 7200 kilometres by road and 60 percent of the state over the 20 day period, which was a huge challenge in itself.

Shoot locations

The images in the commercials reflect the key experiences available in the area, and shoot locations were selected in order to give this feel to the commercials.  There were 44 shoot locations featured, including Bega, Bourke, Coonabarabran, Tilba, Tumut and Tuross.

The Narrators

Each commercial is narrated by a local resident who spoke with passion about what they loved about the areas.  None of these narrations was scripted, which gave a natural feel to the commercial.

Outback: Paul Michael 'Chuck' Brown – Artist
South Coast:  Sol Ramana-Clarke – Gallery Owner, Musician, Filmmaker
North Coast: Bobbie Hodge – Local Identity
Heart of Country: Felicity Urquhart – Country Music Singer
Snowy Mountains: Mark Troha – Farmer

The Music

The music track playing in the background of all Tourism New South Wales commercials is a song called Adiemus. Karl Jenkins is the composer and members of the public can pick up a copy of the music at Sony Music Stores or online (please note - this version will not be an exact match as it was licensed to Tourism New South Wales for restricted television and web use only).
