Kart racing is generally accepted as the most economic form of motor sport available. As a free-time activity, it can be performed by almost anybody, in fact many of the top Formula 1 drivers made their start on the Kart Racing Circuit including the likes of the late and great Ayrton Senna, Juan Pablo Montoya, Michael Schumacher, Jacques Villeneuve and Mika Häkkinen to name just a few. And it’s not just Formula 1 drivers who get their start in Karting, Michael Andretti – Indy car ex-World Champion who retired in 2003 - began his career zipping around the smaller track in a kart, a mere ¾’’ from the ground.

There are a few options available at the Picton Karting Track. There’s “arrive and drive” ($35pp for 15 minutes), “sprint challenge” (30 minutes) and the GP Challenge which Anthony takes up. This is $125 pp and you need a minimum of ten people in the group for this one.

The GP Challenge includes a driver training and safety briefing, 20 minutes practice and qualifying, two races of 20 minutes each with lap times recorded and an official presentation with trophies.

There is an option to add a BBQ to the GP Challenge experience. For $10 extra per person, you can get a sausage sizzle. BBQ packs range up to $30 per person depending on what you’d like to eat.
