What does a father love almost as much as his kids? An ice cold beer, that’s what. This is Jason’s beer safari with beaut grub on the side. Jason has a pint with lunch at the Bavarian Bier Café in Parramatta and then throws back a couple with dinner at Bazaar Beer Café in St Leonards.
About 3 years ago the first Bavarian Bier Café was opened in Sydney on Manly Wharf. Since then another restaurant has opened on O’Connell St, and the newest addition to the line of restaurants is the Bavarian Bier Café in Parramatta, which opened its doors in June 2008.

The restaurant is set up in the old St Andrews Church in Parramatta and next to it is the restaurant’s very own Bier House where functions & after work drinks are fast becoming popular.
The food here is hearty and each meal can be matched with a bier suggested by your waiter. And if you’re really into bier there’s a degustation menu with 7 different dishes matched to seven different biers. This can be part of a group booking and isn’t just included in the lunch menu. If you’ve got a monster appetite come in on Tuesday for the Giant Schnitzel & Schnapps Challenge. Competitors have to polish off a huge plate-sized schnitzel and will be rewarded with a bottle of schnapps when they complete it.
The fun’s not just for the grown ups, either. There’s an extensive kids menu and the little ones even get balloons when they visit.
The Bavarian Bier Café Parramatta is the place to dive into comfort food and one thing’s for sure - you will not leave this place hungry.

The Bazaar Beer Café was opened 2 years by owner Thomas Bartovic who comes from a strong Czechoslovakian background.
The Beer Café was started up because Thomas found that it’s hard to get Czech beer on tap in Sydney and so wrote up a menu of traditional European food that would complement all the beers they sell.
Instead of a traditional Bavarian style restaurant, Bazaar Beer Café has gone for a modern approach with a stylish, simple look that’s comfortable and makes a great place for couples, families and groups.
In the kitchen, Chef Patrick dishes up the ultimate comfort food with a blend of traditional and modern eastern European dishes. The Bazaar Beer Cafe is known for its home style cooking and because there’s a big Slavic following you know they’re doing it right.
If it’s coffee and dessert you’re hankering after, pop into the MiniB Café. The café is in the restaurant and is great for a quick bite to eat and getting your caffeine fix. There’s also a takeaway shop next door so you can eat on the go.
It’s not just about food here either. Against every dish on the menu is a suggested beer to match. You can ask your waiter for more information on the different flavours and in no time at all you’ll be an expert.
And you’ll have plenty of practice at Bazaar with 14 bottles of beer, 2 beers on tap, and beers with mixers like champagne and mango juice that work really well. The range of beer here is fantastic with brews from Belgium, Japan, Mexico, The Czech Republic, Hungary, and even some true blue Aussie favourites.
