Sara is dining by the water in Manly at Garfish and then kicking up her heels for Oktoberfest at the Bavarian Bier Café on Manly Wharf.
At Garfish the focus is on serving the freshest fish available at a reasonable price. In conjunction with Sydney’s leading fish suppliers they source fish at its very best from the market floor & from individual producers around Australia. They often select lesser-know fish varieties because they are the best available on the day.

According to history, the German Crown Prince Ludwig, later to become King Ludwig I, married Princess Therese of Saxonia on October 12, 1810. The citizens of Munich were invited to celebrate the happy royal event at festivities held on the fields in front of the city gates. This proved so much fun that the party endured for 16 days. The decision to repeat the event in subsequent years gave rise to the tradition of the Oktoberfest.

Today, people from all over the world recognize a good party opportunity and October is the month to honour beer! Naturally Europeans, especially Germans keep up the Oktoberfest traditions, but most big cities have a few venues that celebrate October with beer and Sydney is no exception.
One look around the Bavarian Bier Café in Manly, and you know that it’s got a lot to do about beer. There are literally hundreds, or is that thousands, of inviting pint glasses hanging behind the bar. The Bavarian Bier Café is an ideal balance of a good looking, contemporary venue that is warm and sophisticated, yet still manages to deliver a welcoming attitude and ambience that one comes to expect in the best Australian pubs.
In addition to an interesting list of beers there is also some great food, with menus that take you from breakfast though to late night dining. The food style is bistro and it’s a fusion of tradition German fare, but with a great modern Australian twist.
Only recently open, the Bavarian Bier Café is already a big hit in the city. With Oktoberfest, they plan to introduce the pleasure of beer to even more Sydneysiders with special events and themed entertainment planned for every Saturday of the month of October.
