Eating Out – Darling Harbour

Reporter: Ada Nicodemou

Darling Harbour is always buzzing but where should you go when you need to refuel for a day or night of entertainment? Sydney Weekender can tell you.

Bayside Lounge
Sydney now has a sparkling new waterfront bar and restaurant – the stylish Bayside Lounge at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre in Darling Harbour.

Open from 8am each day, the Lounge provides the perfect spot to enjoy breakfast, a leisurely lunch or a drink with friends.

The menu includes superb dishes such as a seared ocean trout with watercress salad, ruby grapefruit and mushroom risotto, harbour prawn and crabmeat cocktail with melba toast and peppered beef tenderloin with asparagus, caponata anchovy butter and merlot.

During the afternoon the Lounge also features its very own contemporary high tea. ‘Tea for Two’ features sweet and savoury delights, quality leaf tea and a glass of Australian sparkling wine - all in keeping with the Lounge’s relaxed style and spectacular setting.

The Lounge is also one of only a few places in Australia to offer the exquisite dessert treats from the famed Lenôtre culinary school in Paris, including the mouth-watering Lenôtre Opera gateaux layered with chocolate and mocha butter cream.

I’m Angus Steak House
Darling Harbour, Cockle Bay, the fantastic views, the vibrant atmosphere and the aroma of char grills……..if you hunger for a steak then you’d better go to I’m Angus Steak House.

I’m Angus has probably the best views of any steak house in Sydney. Located at Cockle Bay, it’s the perfect place if you’re after a good Aussie steak. Sydney's most popular steak house I'm Angus on Cockle Bay Wharf, continues to source Australia's finest beef and freshest seafood delivered from the markets daily, then cooked and served to perfection the I'm Angus way.

Try their huge and juicy T-Bone 600g or the Rib Eye Steak. Both are served with mash and your choice of port jus, pepper, mushroom or béarnaise sauce.

It’s not all beef on the menu though, there’s a kangaroo fillet; grilled barramundi; and an old favourite, salt and pepper calamari.

But their signature dish for sure has to be the Angus Pie. What’s so special about it?  Guinness, just a splash, is added to it for that unique flavour.

But at the end of the day, we like the big steaks, perfectly cooked on the sizzling grill at the restaurant’s entrance. It entertains both diners and passers by but it’s the taste that’ll get you every time.

Some of the dishes you may find on the menu:

  • Warm Lamb Salad - Baby Spinach, Kalamata Olives, Fetta Cheese, Herb Dressing topped with Tzatziki
  • Tempura Prawns
    Mains
  • Giant Pork Ribs
