Mike’s travelling back in time to ye olde Italia...well, sort of. To a castle on a hill in Uki, up the north end of the state, to some unusual accommodation, an art class, cooking class and a medieval banquet – all at the same place!
Uki, is a beautiful and peaceful village and located almost at the foot of Mount Warning (less than 20 minutes drive). The town was founded on timber and dairying.
Today Uki is a community based on dairying, with a developing base of tourist accommodation. The village is a heritage conservation area with heritage buildings including the Mt Warning Hotel, the old Bank Building and the old Butter Factory, now converted to art and craft galleries and artisans work areas.
Castle on the Hill is a Bed & Breakfast near Mt Warning in the beautiful Tweed region of Northern NSW.
Enjoy a renaissance experience in Uki, located in the Tweed Valley fifteen minutes from Murwillumbah, with artists Robert Pope, Robert Todonai and Irene Brown surrounded by beautiful artwork, magnificent castle architecture, sculptured gardens and glorious views of Mount Warning.
Tuck into local fresh produce, award-winning coffee and bush tucker jams with a full scrumptious breakfast.
You can choose to participate in one of the residential art or cookery classes or just come for a relaxing weekend in the bed and breakfast.
