From the beach to the junction, we’re heading to two restaurants that passed Sydney Weekender’s grilling test.

 NICK'S Bondi Beach Pavilion

A casually elegant restaurant offering the ultimate in waterside dining, NICK’s Bondi Beach offers a true Aussie experience.

The menu is an exciting reflection of the best Australia has to offer. Hot and cold seafood platters and wonderful combinations of chargrilled meats and seafood are available as well as a range of top Australian beef, the full range of fresh fish and shellfish.

The cocktail bar offers the unparalleled chance to savour the full Bondi experience: take in the action of the surf along with a gentle Bondi sea-breeze during the day; or admire the passing parade at the gorgeous sunset hour: sipping your choice of mojito, caipiroska, martini or simply an icy cold beer!

Some of the dishes you may find on the menu:

Entree

  • Signature Mezze Plate – marinated olives, prosciutto and melon, asparagus, baby octopus, taramasalata, bocconcini and tomato salad
  • Fresh mussels in a white wine cream sauce
  • Fresh mussels in a tomato & chilli sauce (same as previous dish just done a separate way)

Main

  • Chicken breast served with kipfler potatoes, savoy cabbage & shitake mushrooms
  • Grilled fillet of salmon, baby clams diced potato, chorizo, green beans & a semi dried cherry tomato broth.

Kelly's Bar and Grill

13 years young and still going strong. After establishing a cult following in their East Sydney birthplace Kelly's can now be found atop Westfield in Bondi Junction.

A favourite with many of Sydney's sporting teams and celebrities, Kelly's now has a contemporary fitout and spectacular views across the eastern suburbs all the way to the Harbour Bridge and city skyline.

Here at Kelly's they use a unique African style of cooking. The meat is basted in their secret sauce then cooked on a char-grill which has been specially built and imported from Africa.

Kelly’s Bar & Grill provides generous servings using top quality produce sourced from all parts of Australia. Their specialty is steak and ribs (pork or lamb) but they also offer an array of seafood and vegetarian delights.

For the salad lover there is the mix and match salad section where you can add chicken, salmon or sirloin steak to any one of the eight salads. For those who love their wine Kelly’s have put together a great and very affordable wine list. With 14 by the glass and a selection of boutique and great Australian icon wines.
